Indianapolis Fire Department – Station No. 7

The flagship downtown fire station is sited with the Indianapolis Fire Department Headquarters. The iconic $8 million, 22,000 square foot station fills in an existing parking lot and adds to the streetscape along Fort Wayne Avenue. The eye-catching red metal panels wrap around the building, framing the apparatus bay doors and terminating as a canopy over the front entrance. The station includes five apparatus bays, and facilities for 12 fire fighters, including a training room, a fitness area, and firefighter living quarters.

The design incorporates bright colors, varying textures of masonry and metal, and a scale that ties it to the surrounding buildings.
